
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Action continued across three rinks on Saturday, with teams competing for a ticket to USA Hockey Nationals in April. At Tier-I Qualifiers, teams are battling it out for a spot in Atlantic District Championship weekend next week.
In a series of round robin games, the top two teams will advance to a Frozen Four-style competition at Ice House. The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and Flyers Elite skated three periods of intense hockey in the 16U Tier-I matchup Saturday afternoon. While the Jr. Flyers had a quick jump on the board in the first period, Flyers Elite held them off for the next two periods and ended the matchup 5-2. The division will come down to the final set of games on Sunday, with the possibility of a complete shakeup before championship weekend.
At 14U Tier-I, the North Jersey Avalanche, Rockets and Palmyra Black Knights are racing for a spot. Following two games, the Avalanche are in first with six points and the Rockets and Black Knights are tied for second with three points. Sunday afternoon will feature a pivotal matchup between the two teams in second.
Action continues at Hollydell Ice Arena and Ice Line Arena tomorrow, feeding to championships next weekend. At Ice Vault, champions will be crowned at the 12U age level.
