WEST CHESTER, Pa. – District championship intensity was on full display March 1 as three Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association matchups delivered a mix of shootout drama, dominant performances and clutch late-game execution across multiple divisions.
The most dramatic finish came in the Tier-II Girls 12U AA Championship, where the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers edged out the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a shootout after a scoreless regulation and overtime battle. Both teams traded chances but neither could solve the opposing goalie through 50 minutes of play. Samara Manjeshwar and Emerson Barry scored for the Jr. Flyers, while goaltender Carlin DiFilippo turned aside four of five Little Flyers attempts to secure the win.
Earlier in the day in the Tier-II Youth 14U Pennsylvania qualifier action, Genesis Hockey Club earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over the Central Penn Panthers at Hatfield Ice. Joseph Napoli opened the scoring in the second period before Austin Fisher added the eventual game-winner in the third. Genesis held off a late push from Central Penn, finishing with a 27–26 edge in shots.
Meanwhile at Ice Line, Wolfpack Hockey Club delivered one of the day’s most commanding performances, shutting out Philadelphia Hockey Club 5–0 in the Tier-I Youth 12U Championship. Leonard Gandolfo scored twice and James Sanger added a pair of goals of his own, leading an offense that generated 48 shots while the defense and goaltending limited PHC to 31.
From a nail-biting shootout to decisive wins powered by offensive depth, the day’s games reflected the full spectrum of playoff hockey. Strong goaltending, disciplined defensive play and timely scoring once again proved to be the difference as teams battled for advancement.
With district competition continuing, performances like these underscore why postseason hockey remains one of the most exciting stretches of the season. This is the time when every shift matters and any moment can become the one that decides it all.
